Abstract
The 27 sections of this Act are divided into 4 Parts: Preliminary (I); Control of hunting (II); Administration (III); General (IV).
Subject to provisions of this Act, no person shall: (a) hunt any species of wildlife set out in the Schedule; (b) hunt any species of wildlife other than the species listed in the Schedule, except, - (i) if the person is a resident of Belize, pursuant to a valid non-resident hunting licence issued under section 13; (ii) if the person is not a resident of Belize, pursuant to a valid non-resident hunting licence issued under section 13; (c) hunt any obviously immature wildlife or any female accompanied by its young; (d) hunt any wildlife species employing any fire, trap, poison, spring gun, gin, pitfall, light or electric device or missile containing an explosive, except as may be permitted pursuant to regulations under paragraph (i) of section 11 (sect. 3). No person shall hunt any wildlife species or have in possession wildlife or parts thereof or hunting gear in any area closed to hunting of wildlife pursuant to section 11 of this Act, save as the Minister by regulations may provide (sect. 4). Measures of defence of person or (agricultural) property are considered lawful (sect. 5). The Public Service Commission may appoint a game Warden and a number of game rangers as the Minister shall deem necessary (sect. 10). Section 15 deals with permits for the import and export of wildlife. (27 sections)
