Abstract
This Law may be cited as the Food (Control and Sale) (Amendment) Law of 2005 and shall be read as one with the Food (Control and Sale) Laws of 1996 up to 2004 ( . 2) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Law ). The principal Law and the present Law shall be read as one and will be referred to as the Food (Control and Sale) Laws 1996-2005.The law is issued with the purpose of a better implementation of EU Regulations and Decisions in the food sector (Regulation (EC) No. 178/2002). Under this light, the law brings forth amendments to comply with certain provisions of the aforementioned Regulation. More specifically, articles 2, 3, 6, 7, 9, 14, 15, 16A, 17, 17A, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25 and 26 are amended and/or replaced while the new articles 23A, 23B and 23C are added, establishing sanctions and penalties. The law also amends Annex I to the principal law and inserts Annex II listing down EU Decisions to which articles 23A and 23B make reference to.
