Abstract
The purpose of the present Act is to reduce energy consumption by 2020 in line with European Union energy targets. The consumption reduction requirements will particularly apply to energy providers, large companies, and government agencies.It should be noted that in Austria exists already a large number of measures for improving energy efficiency, such as an active climate protection programme ("klima: aktiv") as well as energy concepts at the federal and state level. More information on national policy measures in the framework of the EED will be displayed in the Austrian Energy Efficiency Action Plan 2014.
The text consists of 34 articles divided into 8 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Energy efficiency relating to industry (2); Obligations of industry (3); Energy efficiency relating to the Federal State (4); Energy services and energy audit (5); Safeguard and procurement of energy efficiency measures (6); Monitoring of energy efficiency (7); Final provisions (8). Five Annexes are enclosed.
