Abstract
This Act regulates the electricity supply industry. The Act consist of eight Parts divided into 119 sections: Preliminary (1); Regulation of electricity industry (2); Separation of generation transmission and distribution sectors (3); Protection of critical electricity infrastructure (4); Powers of electricity corporations (5); Electricity supply emergency provisions (6); General (7); Savings and transitionals (8).
The Act prohibits to engage in the generation of electricity for supply or sale or the transmission, distribution, supply or sale of electricity unless in possession of a licence authorizing the relevant activity. Procedures and requirements for obtaining a licence are set out in the text.
The Act also provides for terms and conditions for the purchase of small renewable energy generation electricity.
