Law No. 24.209 creating the Minas Gerais Pig Farming Promoting Centre.

This Law creates the Minas Gerais Pig Farming Promoting Centre. This Pig Farming Centre is established in the Vale do Piranga region. The municipalities of the Intermediate Region of Ponte Nova, as defined by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), are part of the above mentioned Centre. The objectives of the centre are: strengthen the pig farming production chain; develop and encourage the production, industrialization and commercialization of products derived from pigs; contribute to the generation of jobs and increased income in the pig farming production chain, especially in family farming, observing the principles of sustainable rural development; stimulate the improvement of the quality of pork products, with a view to increasing the competitiveness of the sector.
