Abstract
This Law, consisting of 31 articles divided into six Chapters, establishes the State Animal Health Protection within the Federal District. The animal health protection comprises the set of actions and measures necessary to provide prevention, fight and eradication of disease in animals or in transit in the State as well as veterinary surveillance and related animal health proceedings. The standardization, coordination, supervision, control and execution of the animal health protection in the State are under the responsibility of the State Secretariat for Agriculture, Supply and Rural Development of the Federal District (SEAGRI-DF), Plant and Animal Health Protection Executing Body (OESA). Animal health protection has as its principles animal health, human health, food safety, sustainability and animal welfare. This animal health protection policy must observe, in particular, the provisions set out in Law No. 5.321 of 6 March 2014 on the Health Code of the Federal District. The Law establishes administrative, civil and criminal responsibilities for non-compliance with health measures.
