Order MMA No. 414 establishing the Floresta+ Bioeconomy modality, under Order MMA No. 288 of 2 July 2020.

This Order creates the Floresta+ Bioeconomy modality under the Order MMA No. 288 creating the National Programme for Environmental Services Payment (Floresta+), which will promote: recognition of the direct contribution of sustainable forestry management activities, whether timber or non-timber, for the protection of forests; the creation of commercial arrangements and encouragement of innovation to highlight, recognize and remunerate the environmental services performed by those who work in forest conservation; encouraging timber and non-timber forest production from native forests in Brazil, fostering innovation, structuring and development of this chain through Payment for Environmental Services; the incentive to pay for monitoring, conservation and recovery activities of native vegetation, enabling the guarantee of income, generating stability and incentives for the maintenance of forest areas; and entrepreneurial actions that have the potential to enhance the market for payments for environmental services. The Floresta+ Bioeconomy modality has as a guideline to encourage the bioeconomy focused on payment for the provision of environmental services, understood as a set of activities for the improvement, recovery, monitoring and conservation of native vegetation in all biomes. The strategic objectives of the Floresta+ Bioeconomy modality are: I - prospect reports, and research already available that demonstrate potential opportunities for the biomes, as well as carry out complementary diagnoses and analyzes to enrich the mapping of opportunities for the bioeconomy; II - mobilize, qualify and integrate agents of the bioeconomy, impacting sustainable regional development through payment for environmental services; III – encourage the registration of bioeconomy projects on the Floresta+ Platform to facilitate access by interested parties to financial resources originating from international cooperation, financing, aiming at boosting the bioeconomy; IV - foster the development of a bioeconomy component within the Floresta+ Programme Digital Platform; and V - recognize initiatives that generate added value to sustainable forest management activities, whether timber or non-timber.
