Abstract
This Agreement between the Government of Canada and the Government of the United States of America aims at reducing transboundary air pollution through cooperative or coordinated action providing for controlling emissions of air pollutants in both countries. In Order to control transboundary air pollution between the two countries general and specific air quality objectives are established and shall be pursued by the Parties. The Agreement provides for the establishment of a bilateral Air Quality Committee to assist in its implementation. Other matters covered include consultations, exchange of information, assessment and review, and settlement of disputes. Annex 1 sets out specific objectives concerning sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides whereas Annex 2 concerns scientific and technical activities and economic research.
