Abstract
The present Regulations enforce the Canadian Environmental Protection Act 1999 (S.C. 1999, c. 33). The purpose of the Regulations is to improve the protection of Canada’s environment and the health of Canadians by minimizing the risks posed by the use, storage and release of perfluorooctane sulfonate and its salts and certain compounds and by accelerating the elimination of these substances. The text – consisting of 8 sections – deals with the following aspects: application, exceptions, prohibited and permitted activities, analysis by accredited laboratory, reports, certifications, coming into force.
