Abstract
The purpose of this Regulation is the harmonization of the provisions laid down by law, regulation or administrative action in Member States as regards the addition of vitamins and minerals and of certain other substances to foods, with a view to ensuring the effective functioning of the internal market, whilst providing a high level of consumer protection. The Regulation applies to: (a) foods for particular nutritional uses; (b) novel foods and novel food ingredients; (c) genetically modified food; (d) food additives and flavourings; (e) authorized oenological practices and processes. Further provisions concern the establishment of a Community Register on the addition of vitamins and minerals and of certain other substances to foods.
