Act on the production area for high-quality seed potatoes (No. 744 of 2016).

The purpose of this Act is to secure the operating conditions of the production area for high-quality seed potatoes and to ensure the production of seed potatoes for the entire country's needs, as well as to promote potato production. The production area for high-quality seed potatoes referred to in this law is the area of the municipalities of Tyrnävä and Limingo, within which, in accordance with the Commission's Decision 2004/3/EC, more stringent measures against certain diseases than those provided for in Annexes I and II to Council Directive 2002/56/EC can be applied. The Act contains detailed provisions on the marketing of potatoes and use of potatoes as seed; ensuring plant health within the production area for high-quality seed potatoes; conservation of and the right to obtain information; supervisory authority; right of inspection; prohibition to market or use potatoes; measures for preserving a good phytosanitary status of plants within the production area for high-quality seed potatoes; etc.
