Abstract
The present Decree contains provisions on the tasks of the Regional State Administrative Agencies and the Finnish Food Safety Authority in the control of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) in cattle and scrapie in sheep and goats. These provisions complement Regulation (EC) No 999/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council. The Decree aims to ensure that Finland effectively implements the requirements of the TSE Regulation and upholds the highest standards of animal health and public health protection.
