Abstract
This Order requires all keepers of breeding cattle to control their animals on the presence of bovine viral diarrhoea virus (“BVD”). It also extends the definition of "disease" in the Animal Health Act, 1981 to BVD, provides for the approval of laboratories and veterinary surgeons by the Scottish Ministers for the purpose of this Order, defines duties of such laboratories and veterinary surgeons and provides with respect to enforcement and offences. Sampling shall also concern milk. In respect to the Bovine Viral Diarrhoea (Scotland) Order 2012, this Order: clarifies some sample requirements; make provision in relation to management (ear) tags, extend the requirements for reporting of tests for the presence of BVDV to all laboratories; require the Scottish Ministers to maintain and provide information about current BVD findings.
