Abstract
This Act lays down rules on the national standards body of Iceland, Icelandic Standards, and standards in general. Icelandic standards shall be standards that has been confirmed by the national standards body of Iceland, Icelandic Standards. The use of standards shall be voluntary, but the government may make the use of the specified standard mandatory by reference to it and the relevant legislation. It must be confirmed by regulation by the relevant ministry and the regulation must refer to the standard.
