Abstract
This regulation governs licensed recreational fishing operated as part of tourism activities in Iceland. Tourism operators must obtain a permit from the Directorate of Fisheries for each boat used, and the boats must meet seaworthiness and registration requirements. Recreational fishing may only be carried out with sea rods or handlines without automatic equipment, under either daily fish-number limits for quota species or under the boat’s catch quota; catches under the first type of licence may not be sold, while catches under the second may be commercially used. Operators without catch entitlements must submit monthly catch reports, keep records on board, inform crews about applicable fishing restrictions and catch-handling rules, and violations are subject to penalties.
