Abstract
The Law determines principles for co-operative societies in Latvia. Its purpose is to promote the effective commercial activity of co-operative societies and the satisfaction of the economic and social needs of the members thereof in conformity with the basic principles of the activity of co-operative societies set out in Section 3 of this Law; and to create favourable conditions for the activities of co-operative societies. The Law determines the procedures for the founding, re-organisation and liquidation of co-operative societies in Latvia, as well as the legal basis for the activities of these societies. Among others, the Law provides rules for agricultural services co-operative societies, forestry services co-operative societies, and horticultural co-operative societies.
