Abstract
These Regulations, made by the Minister, after consultation with the National Plant Varieties and Seeds Committee, under section 33 of the Seeds Act, provide for registration of certain varieties of plant listed in the attached schedules. The Regulations concern: the appointment of the National Plant Variety and Seeds Office and of a sub-committee, responsible for testing of varieties and related issues, recommending protocols and technical guidelines to be followed, determining which variety tests require to be submitted for registration. Further matters covered by the Regulations include: publication of National variety list; updating key statistical information relating to seed production; definition of general conditions for registration of a variety; specific requirements in case the variety may be detriment to human, animal health and the safety of the environment; application for registration of variety; grant or reject of application; offences.
