Abstract
This Decree applies to Norwegian and foreign vessels of any type which fish for commercial purposes including vessels which provide assistance to the fisheries fleet and exploration vessels and vessels used for experimental fishing. Fishing for red fish is prohibited in the territorial waters and inner waters of Svalbard. However, red fish may form part up to a maximum of 20 percent of single catches or landed catch of other fish species as bycatch. Infringement of the rules of this Decree shall be punished in accordance with section 4 of the 1925 Svalbard Act. For purposes of the definition of an offence, under the present Decree, assistance to fishing and attempt to fish shall be considered as fishing. (4 sections)
