Decree No. 1484 of 2002 to regulate fishing for blue whiting north of 62 N in 2003.

The Decree prohibits in general any fishing for blue whiting north of the 62nd parallel in 2003 except in the fisheries zone of Jan Mayen and fishing by vessels under 28 meters with conventional gear south of 71 30' N in the period of 9 June to 6 July 2003. Only fishing for purposes of consumption if allowed within individual quotas for vessels (maximum quotas per vessel depend upon the length of the vessel and range from 10 to 14 tons (art. 5)) that fulfill criteria for participation in fishing set out in article 3. Bycatch of blue whiting may be 7-12 percent in fishing for other species.
