Abstract
This Act lays down conditions for the protection of fish, fish breeding and fishing with the aim of not disturbing aquatic ecosystems or original species of fish, the rights and obligations of natural persons, entrepreneurs and legal persons in the use of water for the protection of fish, fish breeding and fishing, state administration in the fisheries sector and liability for breaching obligations concerning the fisheries. For the purposes of this Act fisheries is defined as the summary of activities aimed at conservation, enhancement, protection of genofonds, in particular of indigenous fish species and optimal use of their production of ichthyofauna as the natural wealth of the Slovak Republic. The present Act is composed of the following Sections: (1) Basic provisions; (2) Fishing area and fishery law; (3) Conditions of fishing; (4) Forbidden fishing methods; (5) Protection of fishing rights; (6) State administration for fisheries; (7) Liability for breaching obligations; (8) Common, transitional and final provisions.
