Abstract
This Act amends the Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Authority Act, 2012, in order to to provide adequate protection to the public, workers and the environment against the harmful effects of radiation. Amendments concern: replacement of some terms and definitions; area of application of the Act; insertion of new functions of the Authority, including: monitoring all base stations, in order to ensure that they comply with regulatory standards; monitoring ultra violet radiation, lasers, and magnetic resonance imaging; monitoring food and other consumer goods to prevent radioactive contamination; power of inspectors; institutions represented within the board; categories and classification of radioactive substances; offences and penalties.
