Abstract
This Act provides rules relative to fair competition on Zambia and provides for the protection of consumers.
The Act continues the Zambia Competition Commission, renames the Commission as the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and establishes the Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal. As for the protection of consumers, the Act, among other things, defines and prohibits “unfair trading practice", prohibits the making of false or misleading representations or statements regarding goods, prohibits the placing on the market of defective or unsuitable goods and provides with respect to the labelling of goods.

An Act to continue the existence of the Zambia Competition Commission and re-name it as the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission; safeguard and promote competition; protect consumers against unfair trade practices; provide for the establishment of the Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal; repeal and replace the Competition and Fair Trading Act, 1994; and provide for matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing.
