Fifth Montevideo Programme Consultations and Workshop on the Implementation of Biodiversity, Chemicals and Waste Multilateral Environmental Agreements

Fifth Montevideo Programme Consultations and Workshop on the Implementation of Biodiversity, Chemicals and Waste Multilateral Environmental Agreements Meeting documents

The objective of this MEAs workshop is to provide a practical understanding on how the synergies and interlinkages between biodiversity, and chemicals and waste clusters could be promoted at the national level, with a view of enhancing the implementation of related MEAs. The workshop will focus on strengthening a whole-of-government approach by facilitating improved cooperation and coordination among the focal points and other government experts working across the two thematic clusters of MEAs. The workshop will further facilitate exchanges on the development of national legal frameworks, knowledge products and strengthening of capacity to implement and enforce these national clusters. The newly adopted Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework will be one of the entry points for the discussions.

Additionally, the workshop will include a discussion on the Montevideo Programme V and linkages to MEAs and will provide an opportunity for participating Montevideo Programme V national focal points to provide inputs into the development of an options paper on legal responses to combat the biodiversity crisis.

More details about the workshop are accessible through UNEP's website.
