The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), in collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), invites stakeholders to participate in a virtual consultation under the Joint SDG Fund project titled "Building Environmentally Responsible Investment Readiness in Critical Energy Transition Minerals."
Date: Thursday, 30 July 2026
Time: 13:00 - 15:00 CEST
Format: Virtual
The project is being implemented in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mozambique, Uganda and Zambia. It aims to develop an integrated policy package comprising indicators and checklist questions to help countries identify gaps and prioritise action in areas such as governance, environmental protection, mine closure, circularity, decarbonisation, and biodiversity management. Although project activities are focused on the four participating countries, the policy package is intended to serve as a globally relevant resource.
The consultation will bring together experts and stakeholders from different countries and regions to:
- Receive an update on project implementation and progress to date;
- Review and discuss the draft policy package, including its indicators and checklist questions; and
- Share feedback, relevant experiences and examples of good practices to strengthen the final policy package.
National Focal Points and Partners of the Montevideo Programme V, along with other interested stakeholders, are encouraged to register by Monday, 27 July 2026 using the following link:
