Decree 216/2024, dated 5-22-2024, approving the Regulation on the compensation for damage caused to agriculture and livestock farming by protected fauna species in danger of extinction or in a higher threat.

This Decree approves the Regulation on compensation for damage caused to agriculture and livestock by protected fauna species in danger of extinction or in a higher degree of threat.
The Regulation establishes a set of measures to compensate such damage and losses within Andorran territory.
The following subjects are eligible for compensation: 1. The owner of an agricultural holding or the owner of livestock considered to be of general interest; 2. The owner of a farm or the owner of other animal species; 3. The tenant or owner of a farm developing beekeeping activity; 4. The owner of working dogs from the farms of the previous sections that can be used for grazing activities and for the protection of herds; 5. Any natural or legal person who is the owner of livestock and whose tangible assets that intended for farming or breeding have suffered damage; 6. Any natural or legal person owning cattle, sheep, goats and horses, as well as moths, provided that on the date on which the damage occurred it can be proved that the corresponding customs declaration was made.
The text regulates the procedure for the communication of damages and further provides for the instruction and the resolution of the relevant file; it also regulates the calculation of the amount of compensation for animals of general interest (cattle, sheep, goats and heavy horses), for other farm animals (rabbits, chickens and other species of production poultry), for beekeeping, for working dogs. It also disposes on the calculation of the amount of compensation referring to material goods.
The text finally establishes preventive and protective measures.
