Abstract
This Regulation aims to protect native biodiversity and ensure its conservation by prohibiting the import and introduction into the natural environment of exotic species that can compete with native species and alter their genetic characteristics, ecological balances and dynamics.
Likewise, control measures are established for specimens of fauna and flora currently in the country, to prevent their proliferation in the natural environment. What stated above do not apply to specimens of live invasive alien species or their propagules for reasons of research, health or safety of people or for control or eradication purposes within the framework of the control plans established.
The text specifies that any specimen belonging to the species or group of species included in its Annex I and Annex II is to be considered an invasive alien species and it prohibits the import of specimens of invasive alien species; any introduction into the natural environment of specimens of invasive alien species; and the possession of specimens of invasive alien species.
