Decree of 29 April 2015 on the creation of the Energy and Climate Change Office.

This Decree creates the Energy and Climate Change Office (OECC). It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Office in the environment. This Office ensures the progressive implementation of the policy on energy and the fight against climate change, defined by the Government to promote energy saving, energy efficiency, diversification of energy resources, including the development of renewable energy, sustainable sources, as well as the research on climate change phenomena. In addition, the Office deal with national greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and their mitigation, the adaptation of the country to the changes to limit its negative impacts, etc. The Office functions are: a) promote the legal framework that allows the implementation of the energy policy and the fight against climate change defined by the Government; b) promote action plans in accordance with international agreements on energy and the environment; c) plan and develop campaigns to raise awareness on energy saving and environmental sustainability; e) promote the relations between public and private corporations to encourage initiatives to improve energy efficiency, savings, rehabilitation of buildings, use of renewable energies, inventory of greenhouse gas emissions; f) promote projects in the country to reduce greenhouse gases emissions; g) enhance the exemplary role of the Administration in the aforementioned areas; h) any other activity requested by the Government in the field of energy and the fight against climate change.
