Abstract
The purpose of this Regulation is to establish and regulate the conditions of care required for students with type 1 diabetes mellitus in activities organized by the school inside or outside its premises and throughout the hours in which these activities take place and in the school cafeterias, so that the child diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus receives the treatment and care, if applicable, that corresponds to his or her pathology in an appropriate manner and with full guarantees of safety and effectiveness. Likewise, the Regulation establishes the regulatory framework relating to the participation of teaching staff and the educational center in this care function, and establishes the rights and duties of each of the parties that take part and participate.
The text provides for a delegated care agreement in order to guarantee the quality and efficiency of care for children with diabetes in the school environment in the safest, closest and most immediate way possible. It provides for the possibility for parents or guardians to delegate part of their tasks related to the treatment of the child's type 1 diabetes mellitus to staff or to people designated by the parents or guardians who have been duly trained and who voluntarily accept it.
The text further establishes the responsibility of people involved, of educational centers and school canteens, of the center staff or companions and school cafeteria staff who must execute the delegated care plan, of people outside the centre or canteen to whom parents or guardians delegate the execution of the delegated care plan and of the health services.
The text also provides for the training of educational centers professionals.
