Abstract
This Decree establishes the structure of the Ministry of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock. The Ministry ensure the rational use of land and all its natural resources, in order to guarantee the quality of life of citizens and maintain for future generations a rational ecological balance of the atmosphere, water and land, and defend native flora and fauna, in accordance with article 31 of the Constitution. In this sense, the Ministry aims at the protection and conservation of the natural environment, biodiversity and landscape, ensuring that there is rational use of natural resources, more specifically water, the atmospheric environment, as well as promoting and fostering the development of the circular economy and environmental prevention and control. The Ministry also assumes the powers attributed to it in matters of agriculture and livestock, in particular those that aim to promote the development and diversification of the livestock and agricultural sectors, as economic sectors whose main purpose is to contribute to the maintenance of the environment and the prevention of natural risks that may threaten it, as well as to promote the production of local agricultural and food products that are produced under organic production regimes and under controlled quality regimes in accordance with the current regulations that regulate these agricultural and livestock production methods.
