Abstract
The Arabian Oryx Regional Strategic Action Plan 2022-2026 is a comprehensive initiative aimed at continuing GSCAO's efforts to strengthen regional coordination among range states and address the conservation challenges of Arabian Oryx populations. Developed through a bilingual electronic survey, the Plan identifies national and regional priorities, key conservation programs, and participation mechanisms for national coordinators, biologists, veterinarians, and conservation managers. The survey also explored potential events and challenges that may affect participation, gathering insights for effective implementation. The top ten conservation priorities for 2022-2026, based on survey responses from range states, include: (1) genetic management of Arabian Oryx populations, (2) protected area management, (3) veterinary care, (4) habitat management, (5) addressing overpopulation, (6) supporting national institutional cooperation, (7) engaging local communities, (8) capacity building for rangers, (9) law enforcement for wild Oryx populations, and (10) techniques for surveying populations in protected areas. The Action Plan concludes with a detailed framework for its implementation, reflecting these priorities and providing a roadmap for future conservation efforts.
