Abstract
The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD), established in 1996, is dedicated to protecting terrestrial and marine biodiversity and enhancing the quality of the Abu Dhabi Emirates' environment through strategic partnerships with both public and private sectors locally and internationally. The purpose of EAD's policy is to affirm top management's commitment to environmental protection across all EAD facilities, sites, and natural resources, providing clear internal direction for environmental policy management. This Policy underscores EAD's proactive commitment to avoiding environmental damage and safeguarding EAD assets and applies to all EAD assets and activities, emphasizing the prevention of environmental accidents through effective system implementation, protecting natural resources, and adhering to best practices for sustainability. EAD's Vision aims to achieve a healthy, well-protected, and sustainable environment that enhances the quality of life, while its Mission is to protect the environment and promote sustainability through innovative management and impact-oriented policies in collaboration with partners and the community. Strategic priorities include (i) climate change mitigation; (ii) groundwater management; (iii) waste management; (iv) biodiversity conservation; (v) integrated policy development; (vi) evidence-based enforcement; (vii) advanced data analytics. EAD commits to complying with all relevant environmental legal requirements, highlighting and mitigating risks, setting and reviewing environmental objectives, assigning responsibilities for environmental management, and raising awareness through training and programs. The Agency ensures consultation and participation of workers and contractors, periodically reviews and improves its Integrated Management System, and disseminates this Policy to all stakeholders.
