Abstract
This Law is composed of 14 articles and 1 List. Article 1 contains terms and definitions. All plants and plant products shall be subject to the quarantine regulation (art. 2). It shall be prohibited to introduce plants and plant products affected with pests existing in UAE before their disinfection (art. 3). It shall be prohibited to import living insects, bacteria, virus, parasites and agricultural materials affected by agricultural pests without previous authorization from the relevant authority (art. 5). No agricultural consignments may be introduced in UAE without a sanitary certificate issued by the relevant authority in the country of origin signed by the UAE Embassy (art. 6). All imported and exported plants and plant products are to be subject to the control and inspection by the relevant authority (art. 8). All plants and plant products in transit must stay in quarantine centres for not more than 7 days (art. 9). The relevant authority shall lay down measures and instructions that comply with the Agricultural Regulation (art. 10). Article 11 contains offences and penalties. The Minister of Agriculture and Fish Resources shall issue the necessary resolution for the implementation of this Law as well as the requirements and conditions for the importation and exportation of plants and plant products (art. 13). The list attached to the Law specifies insects and diseases that may not enter the UAE.
