Abstract
This Law is composed of 19 articles and 1 Annex. Article 1 contains terms and definitions. Article 2 prohibits the introduction of imported animals, meat, animal products and animal residues that have not undergone quarantine measures (art. 2). Imported animals, meat, animal products and animal residues shall enter the country through border crossing points. It is also prohibited to introduce animals into the country, whether it is for the purpose of grazing or slaughter or breeding, before being examined by a doctor supervisor of the center and decide what should be taken on them upon entry (art. 4). Article 5 lists the necessary import documents and certificates: official veterinary certificates from the country of origin; reports of the captain of the transportation mean attesting the animals did not come in contact with sick animals; and a certificate attesting that the animals were slaughtered following Islamic method. The animals for slaughter shall be subject to quarantine (art. 6). Article 8 deals with the obligations of owners or importers of animals affected by diseases during transportation. Importation of vaccines and serums without a previous authorization shall be prohibited (art. 11). All animals and animal consignments in transit shall be subject to control and inspection (art. 15). Article 16 contains offences and penalties. The Minister of Agriculture and Fish Resources shall issue the necessary resolutions and regulations for the implementation of this Law (art. 18). The Annex contains the names of the contagious diseases.
