Abstract
This Law consisting of 12 articles regulates grazing in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and establishes that (i) Grazing is allowed after obtaining the license, assigned after obtaining the approval of the Environment Agency of Abu Dhabi. The Agency determines (i) grazing seasons based on evaluation studies of the state of vegetation cover, and any other criteria it deems necessary; and (ii) grazing areas based on two main criteria 1. they should be outside the range of 2 km of nature reserves; and 2. outside the range of critical natural habitats and any other areas specified by the Agency. Article 4 provides for the conditions to apply for a grazing license. The Law in the grazing areas prohibits (i) the use of bicycles, cars, or any type of vehicle or machinery for the purpose of entertainment; (ii) building either temporary or permanent buildings ; (iii) grazing outside the grazing season; (iv) putting fences, tools, or debris; (v) leaving livestock to graze unaccompanied; (vi) not to maintain general hygiene in grazing areas; (vii) not to show the grazing license when requested. Article 8 lists the possible administrative penalties that can be taken by the Authority, including temporary suspension or cancellation of the license.
