Abstract
This Resolution, comprising 11 articles, serves the following purposes (i) regulating the production, distribution, and utilization of single-use products; (ii) mitigating environmental pollution resulting from disposable product usage; (iii) encouraging the substitution of disposable products with more sustainable, reusable alternatives. It applies across the entire national territory, encompassing free zones, and extends to (i) Disposable plastic products; (ii) Disposable non-plastic items (e.g., aluminum containers, wooden utensils, paper cups); (iii) Reusable products containing one or more components made from materials such as plastic, aluminum, glass, or paper. Article 4 enforces the prohibition on importing, distributing, or using (i) plastic shopping bags starting from January 1, 2024; (ii) disposable bags made of any material commencing January 1, 2026; (iii) plastic utensils, including cutlery and plates, from January 1, 2026. Article 5 outlines exceptions to these prohibitions, while Article 6 identifies products whose consumption must be reduced, such as plastic food packaging, cotton swabs, cigarette packaging, and moistened tissues. The Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment will conduct awareness campaigns to promote a culture of multiple and sustainable product use.
