Resolution of the Director General of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority No. 8 of 2024 regulating plant production farms for small farmers.

Abstract
This Resolution consisting of 7 articles aims to (i) regulate the practice of plant production in a way that achieves the sustainability of natural resources on plant farms for small farmers; (ii) contribute to improving the income of small farmers, by facilitating and supporting the marketing process of their products; (iii) support local products, which contributes to strengthening the food security system in the Emirate; (iv) promote optimal exploitation of natural resources on farms. The Resolution applies to all small farmers' plant production farms in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, with a maximum area of 50 dunums (approximately 5 hectares). Article 5 deals with regulations for harvesting and trading plant products, including maintaining farm cleanliness, providing suitable boxes for product transportation, prohibiting entry of individuals with injuries or skin infections, controlling pests, obtaining official approvals for trading facilities, ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of trading facilities, quality control of water used for washing plant products, regulating the use of farm trademarks, and implementing product tracking and tracing systems.
