Resolution No. 257 of 2003 amending Resolution No. 97 of 1993 issuing the Implementing Regulation of the Federal Law No. 41 of 1992 on pesticides.

This Resolution is composed of 21 articles. Article 1 deals with terms and definitions. Article 2 provides for the establishment of the Pesticides Committee. Article 3 entrusts the Committee to: examine and evaluate applications for the registration of pesticides; list the expired pesticides for finding a suitable solution; encourage the use of alternative chemical pesticides; and propose education and information programmes related to the correct and secure use of pesticides. Article 4 prohibits the importation, exportation and circulation of pesticides before its registration at the Ministry of Agriculture and Fish Resources. Article 4 lists steps to be taken for pesticides registration. Articles 6 and 7 deal with the revocation of pesticide's registration and pesticide's re-registration. Article 8 lists the prohibited pesticides. Article 10 pertains to licences. Article 12 defines requirements, conditions and data for pesticides. Articles 15 to 18 deal with the sampling and analysis of pesticides. Article 19 contains provisions on the control and inspection of pesticides. Article 20 gives 6 months to regulate the aforementioned activities according to the Federal Law No. 41 of 1992.
