Resolution of the President of the Council Environment Department - Abu Dhabi No.(6) of 2007 issuing the executive regulations of Law No.(6) of 2006 concerning the Management of Groundwater Well Drilling.

The present Regulation implements the Law No. 6 of 2006 concerning the Management of Groundwater Well Drilling. In particular, the Regulation lays down provisions relating to types of drilling permits, application procedure and conditions to obtain them; fees relating to applications for the grant or renewal of drilling licences and drilling operations; grievances against a rejection. It also sets out contractor's obligations. The Regulation states also that the contractor is required to pay a sum for insurance, before starting the drilling operations. This sum will be withdrawn after the conclusion of the work and the presentation of the necessary documentation.
This Regulation consists of 21 articles divided in VII Sections, as follows: Definitions (I); Formation and functions of the Committee to issue drilling licenses (II); Types of permits (III); Conditions for issuing drilling license (IV); Contractor’s obligations (V); Sanctions (VI); and Annexes (VII).
