Abstract
These Regulations issued by the Regulation and Supervision Bureau for the water, wastewater and electricity sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi provide rules relative to the supply of water. The Regulations are intended to ensure that all connection arrangements to customer’s premises are safe and fit for their intended purpose. They are applicable to connection fittings between a licensed distribution company and a customer’s premises and also include water supplies provided to customers by water tankers.
The Regulations prescribe rules relative to supply installations and charge distribution companies licensed by the Bureau with certain obligations relative to the quality of water supply and the prevention of waste. They also concern the quality of water tanks used by water tank owners and operators who distribute potable water. Such installations must be certified by the distribution company. Finally, the Regulations contain a dispute settlement clause for disputes between a distribution company and a person who assumes actual responsibility for the installation or the ownership of the water fitting.
