Abstract
This Policy address management of different waste in Afghanistan including clinical waste, hazardous waste and urban and solid waste. The text provide an overview on the current conditions of waste that is produced in medical and household sectors. The Policy aims to regulate and control the waste through waste management mechanism, reducing waste production through developing a control system and encouraging the culture of recycling and waste reuse. The Policy further notify on protection of the rules of the international treaties in waste sector such as Stockholm and Basel Conventions and use of the sustainable technology in waste management systems. The Policy is designed in 8 Sections and address the issues of principles and goal of the Policy; medical waste; hazardous waste; organic waste; procedures and methods for waste management in each sector; capacity building and education.
