Abstract
The National Strategy for Pregnancy Accuracy and Mother, Infant, Kid and Teenager’s Health is a national Policy aimed at improving nutrition, health, and safety of women, mothers, infants, kids, and teenagers in the country. The time frame of the Policy is between 2017 to 2021. The Policy also aims to increase public awareness of diseases, medical services, and treatment methods. The Policy is based on the basic principles of the National Health Strategy 2016-2020.
The overall objectives of the Policy for the following five years include: reduction of infants’ death by 25%; reduction of giving birth death by 30%; reduction of kids’ death by 35%; reduction of mothers’ death by 30%; increase the use of modern family planning methods by 30%. The Policy is based on a number of values and basic principles: effectiveness, acceptability by families and communities, sustainability, development, quality of services, integration, justice, and balanced services.
The Policy follows 7 strategies, which include mother’s health, infant’s health, the spacing between the births and family planning, kid’s health, teenager’s health, pregnancy difficulties, and general affairs. The focus of the Policy is on the improvement of the quality, accessibility, and reliability of the mothers, infants, and kids’ health services as well as improvement of the quality and quantity of the preventive and treatment services. There are 6 key principles which differentiate this Policy from similar ones: improvement of the health services quality; rehabilitation of the community-based care of pregnant women, mothers, infants, kids, and teenagers; innovative methods of transportation of patients; new standard system; corporation with private sectors; educational program for kids and teenagers. The Policy encourages gender equality and women empowering in medical departments and health service sector. The Policy sets out provisions to prevent and reduce sexual harassment against women and protect victims. The Policy encourages breastfeeding in the first two years after birth. The Department of Pregnancy Accuracy and Mother, Infant, Kids and Teenagers Health is the authority responsible for implementation of the provisions of this Policy and monitoring the activities of relevant sectors.
