Abstract
The Regulation on Breastfeeding Support aims to set provisions to improve physical and mental health of the mothers and infants, ensure the sufficient nutrition of infants through support of breastfeeding, and control the use of complementary food products. The Regulation consists of 5 Chapters, which is divided into 28 articles: General Provisions (I); Prohibitions (II); Education and Training (III) National Committee (IV); Miscellaneous Provisions (V). The Ministry of Public Health is the authority responsible to implement the provisions of this Regulation. The Ministry shall increase public awareness on the advantages of breastfeeding. The sale of any infant formula, complementary foods, baby bottle and any other infants’ food products, requires registration. Manufacturers and suppliers may not advertise and promote the use of above-mentioned products. The package of any infant formula and complementary food should contain a label encouraging breastfeeding and warn that before use of infants’ food parents should consult the infant’s doctor. To encourage breastfeeding the National Committee is established within the Ministry of Public Health.
