Abstract
The Regulation sets provisions to govern genetic improvement of cows in Afghanistan. The Regulation consists of 3 Chapters divided into 14 articles: General Provisions (I); Duties and Competencies (II); Miscellaneous Provisions (III). The main objectives of this Regulation include: to facilitate the access of breeders to genetic improvement services; to increase the quality and quantity of animal products; to improve the breeders’ economy; to reduce sexually transmitted diseases of lactating cows. The Animal Husbandry Department is the authority responsible to implement the provisions of this Regulation and to issue authorization for genetic improvement acts. The Department also is responsible to monitor and inspect genetic improvement acts and improve the technical capabilities.
