Abstract
The Regulation sets provisions to manage the importation of live animals and the use of their meats. The Regulation consists of 3 Chapters divided into 14 articles: General Provisions (I); Duties and Competencies (II); Miscellaneous Provisions (III). The main objectives of this Regulation include: to prevent importation of ill and old animals; to prevent transmission of animal diseases; to protect human and animal safety; to facilitate importation of healthy animals to produce meat in the country. Big animals, such as cow, camels and buffalo shall be younger than 4 years and smaller animals, such as sheep and goat, should be less than 3 years old. The Animal Health Department is responsible to: issue permits for importation of live animals; register importing corporations; issue authorization for inspectors; determine the importing ports.
