Abstract
The Statute has been drafted to regulate the activities of the Afghanistan Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Corporation. The Statute consists of 66 articles, divided into 4 Chapters: General Provisions (I); Capital and Financial Affairs (II); Structure (III); Miscellaneous Provisions (IV). The main objectives of the Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Corporation include: to abstract, purify, store, and distribute safe potable water; to protect the urban environment and public welfare; to collect and purify wastewater; to construct and develop efficient and sustainable installations for water supply and sewerage system. The Corporation works as a state joint stock company and under the supervision of the Ministry of Urban Development. To achieve its objectives, the Corporation has duty to: supply and distribute safe potable water; to protect, maintain, and develop water supply services in urban areas; to collect and control wastewaters; to make necessary survey and study to improve the water supply system; to comply with environmental regulations and standards; to establish well-equipped laboratories to control potable water quality; to train technical expertise; to increase international cooperations; to improve the water supply system; to become member in regional and international associations of water supply and sewerage. The initial capital of Corporation is 5,468,829,584 Afghani, equal to 73,407,104 USD. The corporation consists of a General Assembly of Shareholders, a Board of Directors, an Executive Board, and a Supervisory Board.
