Abstract
This Act provides for the control and reduction of noise in general and in particular in noise abatement zones declared as such under this Act.
The Minister may have a noise abatement notice served on the person responsible for the noise pollution. The person receiving a notice may appeal to court against such notice. If the Minister holds that prosecution for an offence under this Act is an inadequate remedy, he or she may apply to the High Court for purposes of securing the prohibition, abatement or restrictions of the noise annoyance. The Act further: provides for legal action against noise by persons aggrieved, the control of noise on construction sites and consent by the Minister to carry out engineering works; prescribes offences in relation with noise; grants powers to the Minister to declare, by Order, an area of Antigua to be a noise abatement zone; and provides for control and abatement of noise in such area.
