Property Tax and Valuation Act.

This Act concerns: (a) the imposition of taxes on land including improvements and all estates, interests, easements and rights pertaining to land; and (b) the valuation of real property for purposes of taxation.
The Act assigns the function of administration of provisions of this Act to the Commissioner of Inland Revenue and provides for the appointment of a Chief Valuation Officer and Valuation Officers. For purposes of this Act, property shall be classified as: "agricultural”, ”residential” or “other property”. “Other property” may be classified by the Chief Valuation Officer in sub-classifications.
The Act concerns the taxation and valuation of common property, prescribes procedures of valuation and provides for the establishment of the Property Valuation Appeal Board and appeal with that Board. The Act also provides for the imposition of a tax on environmental services carried out in respect of land by persons authorized to do so by the Government. Such environmental tax shall be due and payable together with the property tax.
