Abstract
These Regulations, made under section 64 of the Standard Act, no. 24 of 2017, sets out requirements for the information to be included on labels of goods pre-packaged for retail and sale, the method of display such information and related matters; provides necessary information to consumers and assists retailers, packagers and manufactures to protect themselves and the consumers in the event of complaints regarding the products. The Regulations concern requirements of labelling and packaging, including: common name of the goods with registered trade name; accurate declaration of the net contents of the package; name and identifiable business address of the manufacturer or importer or distributor and the country of origin; accurate description of the major ingredients or components of the goods; expiry date or date mark which gives an indication of the age of the goods. The Regulations provide details concerning the presentation of information to the consumers; the language to be used; the common name; the net content; eventual additional designs and symbols, except for those giving erroneous impression; expiration date, in order to comply with quality, safety and hygienic requirements; warranties and guarantees related to safety, quantity, quality, composition, performance, compensation; instruction for the use.
