Abstract
This Act imposes a levy on sugar manufactured in and exported from Antigua and Barbuda and provides for the payment of proceeds of such levy into funds, which shall be established pursuant to this Act.
The levy shall be paid on quantities of sugar exported as declared by exporters. The Accountant-general shall establish a Sugar Industry Price Stabilization Fund, a Sugar Industry Rehabilitation Fund and a Sugar Industry Labour Welfare Fund. The moneys deriving from the levy imposed shall be distributed among these funds as provided for by the Act. The Cabinet may make Regulations: (a) for the management and control of the funds; (b) regarding bodies administering the funds; and (c) prescribing the purposes for which the funds may be used.
