Abstract
This Act grants the power to the Cabinet to establish quotas regarding manufacture of and trade in sugar and prohibits the exportation of sugar in excess of established quotas.
The Cabinet may, by Order published in the Gazette, determine quotas that each manufacturer during a given period may: (a) manufacture; (b) export; (c) dispose of on the local market; or (d) hold in stock for exportation of local sale. The Cabinet may, by Order, declare in what manner any sugar manufactured in excess of the fixed quota shall be disposed of, and may order the seizure and destruction of any such excess stock of sugar. The Minister may require manufacturers to submit returns on sugar production and trade. The Act prescribes offences.
